Mallory Sapoff, Psy.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Supervisor
About Mallory Sapoff, Psy.D.
As a psychologist, I believe that through a collaborative and nonjudgmental stance with my clients, psychotherapy is a venue to explore the thoughts, behaviors, and relationship experiences that contribute to and maintain life difficulties. The inevitable challenges that life throws at us can at times make our relationship with ourselves more unsettled, elusive, or overbearing.
My Approach
My approach to psychotherapy is creative, personable, and flexible based on the belief that all clients enter treatment with unique perceptions and experiences of the world. My treatment approach is warm, open and active; centered on an individual’s particular needs and goals throughout the treatment process. I am committed to providing a safe and accepting therapeutic environment to move clients towards their personal goals while helping them to develop an authentic understanding of themselves along the way.
My therapeutic orientation is integrative; utilizing psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, relational, mindfulness, and humanistic therapeutic modalities depending on your individual needs. I have extensive experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds of all ages and populations. I am particularly familiar with issues related to anxiety, depression, family conflict, major life transitions, and relationship issues.
Professional Background
I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pace University and have held clinical positions at Four Winds Hospital, the William Alanson White Institute, Pace University Counseling Center, Brooklyn College Personal Counseling Center, and the Mental Health Association of Westchester. Preceding my Doctoral degree, I earned my Master’s of Science in Counseling Psychology and a Master’s of Science in School Psychology at Pace University.
I have been an Associate Adjunct Professor at Pace University since 2013 where I teach doctoral, master’s level and undergraduate psychology courses. I have also held a position as an Associate Adjunct Professor in the Psychology Department of Brooklyn College teaching courses at the Master’s and undergraduate level since 2016.
