Shia Bochner, Ph.D.
Dr. Bochner communicates an atmosphere of unconditional acceptance, warmth, yet therapeutically stimulating. His unyielding belief in the human potential, is communicated through his judgment-free interactions and helping his patients overcome their personal challenges. Dr. Bochner works with a wide range of psychological difficulties. Regardless of the severity of the psychological problem, he helps his patients navigate their difficulties with compassion but with a therapeutic vigor. In addition to working with his patients’ everyday struggles, his focus is geared towards the personality structure. His philosophy is that ones’ struggles, pains, and difficulties is ultimately the result of a deeply ingrained personality structure. Dr. Bochner utilizes an integrative approach that is custom tailored to the best interest of each patient.
Dr. Bochner earned his PhD from Fielding Graduate University, a school that emphasizes training their students in a wide range of treatment modalities. His core interest lies in the psychodynamic theories. However, he has considerable training and experience conducting Rogerian, existential, CBT, short-term and long-term psychotherapy. His diverse approaches culminate in offering a meaningful and healing psychotherapeutic experience.
Dr. Bochner has accumulated a wide-range of experiences prior to joining Madison Park Psychological Services. Some of his experiences include working at The Brooklyn College Counseling Center, Beth Israel Hospital, The Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research, Satellite Academy high school, Mt. Sinai Hospital, and the New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. He also has many years of experience as a professor of psychology at Touro College.
