Couple Smiling at Each Other

Shana Grover, Ph.D.

Dr. Grover is a licensed clinical psychologist and completed her training at The New School for Social Research in New York City where she obtained her PhD.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Dalhousie University and an MSc in Forensic Psychology from the University of Surrey.

Dr. Grover approaches clients from a compassionate and empathic standpoint with the aim of alleviating suffering and constructing meaning.  She believes that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in facilitating change and works to provide clients with a better understanding of themselves while creating a safe and authentic space. In treatment, Dr. Grover employs an integrative approach utilizing interventions from cognitive behavioral therapies and psychodynamic/relational psychotherapies. She views treatment as an ongoing process that requires flexibility and an ability to adapt to the changing needs of the client. By working collaboratively with each person to determine areas in which they wish to further develop or change, she aims to facilitate a sense of curiosity about one’s internal world and underlying motivations.  Her genuine approach to treatment fosters a trusting and meaningful relationship whereby clients feel a greater sense of fullness, and agency.

Dr. Grover’s experience includes individual, group and couples psychotherapy in hospital-based, community and college settings. Prior to joining Madison Park Psychological Services her training has included positions at The New School University’s Counseling and Psychological Services, Maimonides Medical Center, Elmhurst Hospital Center, and Trenton Psychiatric Hospital. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital and is currently a staff psychologist at Bronx Care Hospital.  Dr. Grover also has a background in providing psychological evaluations for children, adolescents and adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and supervises doctoral level psychology students in psychotherapy and assessment.
