The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychologist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.
Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse, for which psychologists are required by law to report to the appropriate authorities immediately.
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person, psychologists must notify the police and inform the intended victim.
If a client intends to harm himself or herself, our psychologists will make every effort to enlist his/her cooperation in ensuring his/her safety. If a patient does not cooperate, the law mendates that psychologists take further measures without the patient's permission in order to ensure his/her safety.
