Dr. Schwartz possesses a passion for the field of psychology and a profound appreciation for the human condition. Her approach to therapy is informed by psychoanalytic theory. In practice, this means Dr. Schwartz collaborates with her clients to identify both conscious and unconscious dynamics impacting their growth processes. In tandem with a psychoanalytic framework, she draws upon humanistic, interpersonal, and behavioral therapeutic modalities in order to meet the specific needs of her clients. Dr. Schwartz is devoted to providing a therapy space that feels safe, warm, and authentic. She holds an open and curious stance such that her clients’ unique experiences can unfold organically. Through her close attunement to the needs of her clients, she is able to facilitate a creative process whereby desired change can occur and clients can begin to experience themselves in new and exciting ways.
Dr. Schwartz earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant International University in San Diego, CA and her Bachelors of Science in Psychology at Florida State University. She has worked in a variety of settings including residential, school, university counseling, outpatient, and community mental health. Her experience in residential care afforded her the opportunity to work with a diverse child and adolescent population where she received specialized training in treatment with traumatized youth and psychological testing. She went on to work in a variety of outpatient settings, where she conducted long-term therapy with a diverse adult population. Dr. Schwartz has extensive experience conducting process-oriented group therapy, couples and family work, as well as supervising both masters and doctoral students in their clinical work. She has particular familiarity with helping adults navigate major life transitions, shifts in identity, relationship challenges, as well as anxiety and depression. Prior to joining Madison Park Psychological Services, Dr. Schwartz worked at The Winston School, San Diego Center for Children, Center for Applied Psychological Services, Areta Crowell Wellness and Recovery Center, and finally, The Faulk Center for Counseling, her doctoral internship.
