Dr. Melissa "Kate" McIntosh cultivates a warm and comfortable space for personal growth and healing. She engages patients in working to develop a valued, meaningful life. By acknowledging that suffering is an inevitable part of life, Dr. McIntosh works with patients to fully explore and address the issues that are bothering them. Through careful listening and direct communication, she supports patients to develop a mutual understanding of patterns that are hindering them and insight that fosters a fulfilling life. Currently, Dr. McIntosh provides individual, couple, and group psychotherapy for adolescents and adults. She uses her expertise with various forms of treatment to tailor the therapy to the patient's needs and style.
In 2019, Dr. McIntosh obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in depth psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, CA. She also earned a Master's degree in Art Therapy and Creative Development from Pratt Institute. She holds a B.A. in English from the University of New Hampshire. Prior to joining Madison Park Psychological Services, Dr. McIntosh worked at the Harlem Family Institute and The New School Student Health and Counseling Services. She has accumulated a wide range of experience working with diverse populations in a variety of clinical settings including a behavioral health school, college counseling center, cancer support center, acute medical surgical pediatric hospital, and an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
