Confidentiality & Privacy Policy

The law protects the relationship between a client and a psychologist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission.

Exceptions include:

  • Suspected child abuse or dependant adult or elder abuse, for which psychologists are required by law to report to the appropriate authorities immediately.

  • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person, psychologists must notify the police and inform the intended victim.

  • If a client intends to harm himself or herself, our psychologists will make every effort to enlist his/her cooperation in ensuring his/her safety. If a patient does not cooperate, the law mendates that psychologists take further measures without the patient's permission in order to ensure his/her safety.
